After reading the first book I was excited to see where the next characters were going. I wasn't disappointed. After a slow start of a bit of swapping between characters and wondering where the story was going, bam! Let's just say no one saw me for the next hour as I hurriedly turned each page to finish the story. I loved it and can't wait for more

Scared of Forever Jacqueline Abrahams 9780992557225 Books Reviews

I received a complimentary e-copy of Scared of Forever in exchange for an honest review.

Right from the start, I was not a big fan of Blake's. I don't like that he started something with Emily when he had someone else on the side and he definitely should have never gotten to the point of getting engaged to her, no matter what the pressure was from his mother to have someone acceptable. So when Tyler came to town and it was clear that he was not a big fan of Blake's or of his overbearing mother, his likeability was off the charts for me. And it helpled that he seemed to understand Emily and she felt so comfortable with him from that first moment.

I liked Emily, but I'm not a huge fan of books that involve cheating, so I wasn't thrilled that the story was going to involve a love triangle that involved Blake, his brother and his fiancee, so I wasn't pleased when Emily made a few of the choices that she made, but I knew it was going to happen, so just sat back to watch the aftermath. I love that karma has a way of coming back to bite hard. And I was hoping that something good would come out of this for Emily and that she'd have the chance to find her happy ending with the man she loved.

Scared of Forever was well written and flowed very well for me, despite being a taboo type of story for me. This is the second book I've read by Jacqueline Abrahams, and I'll definitely keep my eye out for more from her.
This is one of those love stories that drags you through the mud to get to the shiny happily ever

after and I loved every second of reading this! Let me start off by clarifying that last statement. I cannot

remember the last time I have so completely and utterly hated and absolutely despised a character and

wanted to reach into the pages of the book and throttle him myself! In the prior book by this author we

are introduced to Blake and he is portrayed as a genuinely great guy. I felt like I literally had the floor

ripped right out from underneath me when I was able to see what a skeevy and malicious little worm he

was and how highly he thought of himself. This man holds himself up on a self-constructed pedestal and

thinks he’s God’s gift to women and he uses them to fulfill his own needs. I was thoroughly disgusted

with him by the end of chapter one and completely loathed him with every fiber of my being. Emily is his

latest victim and she’s the picture of innocence and purity and is even a literal virgin when they meet

and he sees her as nothing more than his property and his latest conquest and it made me so angry for

her! I loved Emily from page one and she has such a sweet disposition and caring heart and I couldn’t

stand that she doesn’t have a clue who she’s given herself to. Things evolve between the two and Blake

has decided to take Emily as his wife due to pressure from his high society mother and I can’t imagine a

couple more imperfect for each other or a situation more doomed for disaster.

While Emily’s situation may seem bleak and it seems like there’s no hope for her I must admit

that I was quite taken off guard by the direction that this book took. I wasn’t expecting the pleasant and

completely welcome surprise that comes out of left field in the form of Blake’s incredibly sexy and all

around great brother Tyler and I was so very happy to see him enter Emily’s life. While she may have

been torn between the two and not sure which direction to take I immediately wanted her to blow

Blake’s undeserving butt off and go right into Tyler’s amazing arms! As with most complicated

relationships it did not work out quite this easily and there were several twists and turns along the way.

In the end I wouldn’t change a single thing about this story at all and everything is perfect just the way it

is. Sometimes we have to kiss a lot of really nasty jerkwad frogs before we finally find our prince and this

is one of those cases. I highly recommend this book to anyone and I plan to read much more by this

author in the future!
4 "Stomach-In-Knots" Stars

Wow. For the first half of the book, my stomach was a mess of nerves and anxiety. Jacqueline penned an angsty tale of hidden agendas, lies, broken trust, and finding the right guy at the wrong time. This book follows Blake who was introduced in book 1 and Emily who was mentioned briefly at the end of book 1 as well.

Right off the bat, this book takes a drastic turn towards heartbreak. Starting in Blake's pov, we're privy to information that poor Emily is not. He finds her waiting tables at a local upscale restaurant and slowly works his way into her heart for purely logistical purposes. He's got lots of baggage that is slowly revealed but one thing is for sure, his mother is running his life and he's trying to live up to her expectations.

Emily falls in love with the Blake that we met in book 1. The caring, sweet, affable guy he presents to the world. But behind the facade, he's a guy that is living a double life. Already in love with one woman, he keeps her a mistress but leads Emily to believe in their HEA. But when Blake's brother Tyler shows up, things start to unravel.

Emily and Tyler start a friendship that was at first genuinely platonic, but quickly starts to become more when Emily realizes that maybe Blake isn't who he's proclaimed to be. When lines are crossed, Tyler escapes, leaving Emily to deal with the aftermath all on her own.

I was quite shocked at Blake's true personality but I, weirdly, couldn't fully hate him. He made terrible choices with drastic consequences but I could (sort of) see his point of view. That doesn't mean I condone his actions at all because I most definitely did not. But Emily and Tyler weren't completely open and honest either. That said it was obvious to me that Emily and Tyler were meant to be together, so when all the lies and deception finally came out, my heart unclenched and I could breathe easy knowing the right ending was going to happen.
