Yes, I know it's July -- but the weather has been unseasonably cool, and there is nothing wrong with a little Christmas at any time of year! I found a very nice touch of the holiday this week in An Amish Country Christmas by Charlotte Hubbard and Naomi King.

This book is an anthology of two stories written by the author's self-described "both of me." (For anyone who doesn't know, Charlotte Hubbard writes under two different names for separate publishers.) These stories bring together characters from the Seasons of the Heart series and the Home at Cedar Creek/One Big Happy Family series -- and they fit together quite nicely.

Both stories feature fast-paced romances between some of the livelier supporting characters from Willow Ridge and Cedar Creek -- developing much more quickly than would likely happen in a real setting. But remember . . . it's Christmas time in a fictional location, and just about anything can happen at this magical time of year. When you mix the scheming Coblentz twins with the Kanagy brothers and the spunky Hooley aunts with a couple of bishops, you are bound to come up with fun times. And the extra large collection of recipes for Christmas goodies that Charlotte/Naomi shares at the end of the book is a special bonus.

I recommend An Amish Country Christmas for a good read at any time of the year.

An Amish Country Christmas Charlotte Hubbard Naomi King 9781420131888 Books Reviews

While I am not a expert on the Amish, I find this book a little fiction. I do have Amish friends and have been to Amish homes and I think things happen in this series that would never actually happen in a Amish home. Especially the home of a Amish bishop. It was a good read tho and kept my attention.
Love all her books
I read all of Charlotte Hubbard's books and they are wonderful stories. Good clean enjoyable reading that takes you back in time to days of life in the country on your grandparents farm. I love the Amish Community stories and each one is different and holds your attention. I can't get enough of Amish Fiction Books and Ms. Hubbard's are one of my favorites.
Two great stories about unexpected love. The first happening with two brothers who fall instantly over a pair of twin sisters. The other is between a couple in their fifties; he is a widowed Bishop and she is a retired never married school teacher. I had read of the Bishop 's marriage in one of Charlotte 's other books, but there was very little detail. It was good to read the happenings. I very much enjoyed this book and it was a very easy and entertaining read.
I found myself asking "Do Amish young people really behave like that?" The characters are likable, but they take liberties that surprised me and left me wondering about their moral integrity. It was good to read this novel, because it expands the assortment of characters in the Amish series of novels by Charlotte Hubbard/Naomi King. Two communities are linked by the main characters in this novel. It gives a broader picture of the Amish communities in Missouri even though the real communities with those names are not geographically as close as the fictional communities. I enjoyed this novel very much.
This series is really good. Start at book one, and read in order. Each book is complete, but the next book builds off of what happened in last one, same characters you love, and a Bishop you want to throttle, and a new character or so. Each book reintroduces through he book something in the last one to bring you up to date. She writes as if she were Amish herself.
Not filled with a lot of religious talk at every turn, but the principles are there of marriage to an Englisher, romance withe the bishops, suspense, mystery, excitement, falling in love when old as well as young. Big families.. and oh the twins and the goats finding the bishops forbidden ..... and getting caught... Won't be a dull moment in this series.
I finished reading "An Amish Country Christmas" two days ago, and let me say, the two stories were akin to reading about someone in your own family, if that makes any sense. The characters in the stories were not perfect, but I loved them for that fact. They didn't always know the right thing to do, but they always tried to find it. Alot of times, in books, the characters are so perfect that you can't relate to the story or the characters, but Charlotte and Naomi write about people you feel like you know. This was my first experience with these authors, and will NOT be my last. I love how her writing touches my heart. I loved that the stories' characters were interwoven in both of the novellas as it makes knowing my characters easier. The cookie recipes at the end of the book are easy and yummy. I can't brag enough on this book, and will recommend it to all of my friends who love to read!
