Peri Jean Mace is one of my new favorite protags! REST STOP, too, should be made into not just one movie, but one knuckle-busting, binge-watchable, main-screen marathon! She held me captive in the pre-dawn hours of the past couple of mornings! This relatively short tale packs a gutload of punch!
This book is the spookiest of them all! I'm still trying to catch my breath. Peri Jean is at it again trying to developed her gift. It was nice seeing her accept who she is. She just needs to find safer venues. I swear she is going to be the death of me. Super mysterious and scary. I have to wait until July to read the next book! Love this series.
I say it with every book I finish.... I freaking love this series! A big difference with this book is that I didn't figure out who the big bad was until much farther into the book. A big plus!
Peri Jean keeps getting more interesting with each new adventure she goes on. More of her powers become unveiled and they are incredibly cool! This is yet another Peri Jean Mace winner! On to the next!
Just more, okay? Please? Every single book in the PJM series sucks me in. I think I can just sip at chapter one while I'm eating breakfast and I look up and it's lunch and I've done nothing, nothing except fall head first into Peri Jean's world. I am so happy she's finally embracing who she is and the teaser for the next book? Can I just say how cruel and terrible Rhodes is doing that to passionate readers who can't get enough? July can't come fast enough. As always, well done, bravo and thank you for such a fantastic distraction.
Book 4! I was so excited to start this book. But it didn't take me long to wonder if I could actually finish it. It was that good and scary to me! Since I like to take road trips, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stop at rest stops without thinking of this book. You have to read it but be prepared to rethink driving. Love the additions of the paranormal investigations team. Griff and Mysti are very intricate to the story line and are very powerful in their own right.
Peri Jean hits the road with her new witch mentor, Mysti, and Mysti's boss, Griffin Reed, to see if she'd be a good fit as a consulting medium for Reed's detective agency. The case takes them to a little town in the middle of nowhere with an unnatural number of unexplained disappearances. This book ratcheted up the horror factor in a big way. With Peri Jean still unsure whether or not she's comfortable embracing her supernatural abilities, and with little to no idea how to use those abilities it's truly touch and go for her and her new friends.
Where the other books in this series are more mystery than horror, this is more horror than mystery. Don't get me wrong, the mystery is solid. It's just, well, I didn't finish this at night. I waited until sun up once things got heavy. It's a great addition to the series, and takes Peri Jean Mace to a new location and new situations.
I'm always impressed by Ms. Mace, and this story is no exception.
